Introduction

For this lesson, you will be taking your child to different places where he might encounter community workers. You will also be taking him to observe a chosen community worker for an extended amount of time (30-45 minutes). If you cannot arrange for your child to spend some time with a community worker, find a book that you can read to him about the job of a community worker.

Explain to your child that the people who live in communities have jobs. Many people in the community have jobs that make the community a more healthy and happy place to live. We sometimes call these people community helpers.
